We are a family owned and operated wellness practice.

We are what would have happened if Dharma and Greg had a family.  John is a federal prosecutor, and I am a Reiki therapist and teacher.  We met while working together at the U.S. Attorney's Office.  I was a victim/witness specialist at the time, working with the attorneys to prepare victims of violent crime to testify in federal trials.  As they say, the rest is history...

Reiki Master Mama

I am Jessica Gammell-Bennett.  I teach the wellness classes and see clients for private healing sessions.  After suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome that culminated in near fatal meningitis, Reiki brought me back to wellness and enabled me to have a child after three miscarriages.  Now my purpose is to nurture my family and help others navigate their own journey by equipping them with the tools they need to find their way to wellness.

My Journey to Wellness

I ran Cross Country and Track and Field in high school and continued running competitively at the Division I level in college.  During my freshman year, I was the picture of health.  The following year, I was struck by a debilitating form of mononucleosis that left my immune system severely compromised.  I began to experience periods of extreme fatigue, "brain fog," and high fevers.  I could no longer compete in Cross Country or Track and Field.

I would go on to graduate with my B.A. in English.  However, over the course of the next ten years, I went from one doctor to another in search of answers, but never found any.  Just over ten years into the illness, I developed the auto-immune disorders Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and Scarring Alopecia.  I also developed keratitis and lost the sight in my left eye.  I found a Chronic Fatigue specialist and finally received a diagnosis: Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome or CFIDS. Anti-virals helped initially, but their effect wore off.  Six months after my diagnosis, I developed meningitis and required hospitalization.  The illness was almost fatal. However, even in the darkest hours, something in me knew that it would get better if I just held on.  So I did.

Afterward, I was so debilitated that I had to resign from my position with the U.S. Attorney's Office as a victim/witness specialist.  Newly married, my husband and I came up with a plan that I take two years off to rest, recover, and acquire my teaching certification at East Carolina University. Because of my experience in working with victims of violent crime, I wanted to work with youth who were at risk of going down the wrong path.  In addition, my husband and I hoped that having summers off would give me the rest needed to be able to work. However, as any teacher knows, the stress of the job during the school year is unrelenting. Facing having to resign from yet another career, I heard about Reiki and decided to give it a shot.

After working through Reiki levels I, II, and III, I became attuned as a Reiki teacher.  Three months later, not only was I once again the picture of health, but I was also pregnant with my first child; a dream I never thought was possible for me. Our son was born in the summer of 2015.  We are both healthy, happy, and thriving.  Our lives are a testament to the healing power of the Reiki energy.  My dream is to pass this energy on to as many people as possible so that they may be empowered to heal themselves as well.  Reiki practitioners can heal themselves and others!
